Beatrice Geraldine Johnson, 80 of New Britain passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, January 13, 2011. She was born in Newark, New Jersey the daughter of the late Peter James and Willie Mae McClary. She moved to Connecticut in the early 1950's where she met her husband, Robert Johnson, Sr. Bea retired from the Human Resources Agency of New Britain were she was employed for 26 years. Recently she attended Spiritual Life Fellowship Church worshipping and praising the Lord as she supported her son Bruce in his ministry. She is a member of McCullough Temple CME Church where she served on the Usher and Stewardess Board. Beatrice is survived by her devoted husband Robert of 54 years, sons Gregory Edith McClary of Flemington, NJ, Robert Jr. Darlene of Newington, Stephen Monica of Indian Trail, NC, and Bruce Lisa of Hartford. She leaves to cherish her memory sisters: Anna Cook, Sally Baker, and Jean Howard all of New Jersey. Grandchildren: Shirley Beatrice, Hassan, Shay, Pauline, Tyeshon, Hayley and Harrison; 8 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters Dorothy and Lucille; a brother, Peter James and a grandson, Gregory Jr. A Homegoing Celebration will be held on Tuesday at 12 Noon at the McCullough Temple C.M.E. Church, 55 Chapman St., New Britain. Calling hours are Tuesday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service at church. A repass will immediately follow the service at church. Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
