Beatrice E. Anderson, 96, of New Britain, passed away peacefully on Friday, Nov. 8, 2013 at Andrew House in New Britain. Born in New Britain on July 16, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Ethel and Sigurd Anderson. Beatrice was formerly employed at New Britain Machine for 21 years as secretary, and later worked at Conn. Central Credit Union League in Kensington and New Britain Bank and Trust Co which became Fleet Bank, before retiring. She was a member of the Christian Scientist Church and the International Organization of Good Templars. Beatrice was an accomplished seamstress and perfectionist when it came to making garments. She enjoyed knitting blankets for newborn infants at the Hospital. Beatrice loved music and was a soloist with a beautiful Contralto voice for 40 years. She sang in the Christian Scientist Church in New Britain and Bristol. She was a member of the New Britain Music Club, where she served on the Board of Directors and as treasurer. She enjoyed singing the National Anthem at Walnut Hill Park years ago on Citizenship Day. Surviving are a sister, Marion Wolfe in Wisconsin; her cousins, Carol and Charles Carillo, Barbara and Ralph Harris, all of Florida, Doris and William Gadzik of New Britain; her nephews, Dean and David Anderson; and her long time friend for over 70 years, Marion Vogt. She was predeceased by her brother, Raymond S. Anderson of Stonington, CT who died in 2011. Marion and Beatrice's family would like to thank the entire staff at Andrew House, especially Iris, for their love, concern and special care given to Beatrice. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 1:00 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Fairview Cemetery.
