Basilisa Rivas

Basilisa Rivas, 80, of New Britain, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 20, 2011 surrounded by her loving family at Walnut Hill care Center. She was the widow of Antonio Mejias. Born in Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Candelario Rivas and Juana Cosme. Basilisa was a New Britain resident for the past 40 years. Surviving are five children, Jose Rivas, Antonio Mejias and his wife Margaret, Victor Mejias, Enid Mejias and her husband Gaspar, and Miguel Rodriguez; a brother, Ovidio Rivas in Puerto Rico; twenty four grandchildren, and twenty five great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank Walnut Hill Care Center and especially Isabel, for their loving care. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday (Today) from 7-9 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain. Funeral services and burial will be in Puerto Rico.
