Barry John Cayer, Sr.

Barry J. Cayer, Sr., 64, of Kensington, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. He was the life partner of Jane (Russell) Cayer. Born in New Britain, he was the son of the late Henry C. and Eleanor (Scagliotti) Cayer. Barry was a US Navy veteran. He was a member of the Berlin Congregational Church where he was a former Deacon. Barry was a member of the I.P.I.C. and was licensed by the US Power Squadron. He was an avid fisherman and loved the water. Barry was a skilled craftsman and made beautiful furniture. Surviving is his son Barry J. Cayer, Jr. of Berlin, his daughter Sarah J. Cayer-Collins of Berlin, two sisters Lida Matthews, Elizabeth L. Cayer, and his granddaughter Devin E. Collins and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter Laura L. Cayer and his brother Henry Cayer. A memorial service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am at the Berlin Congregational Church, 878 Worthington Ridge, Berlin. Calling hours will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain. In lieu of flowers, memorial donation may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 1004, Meriden, CT 06450.
