Baggy lived most of his life in Plainville and opened Sherwood Forest Liquor Mart in 1960.  He worked with his father, Hagop "Jack" and so Baggy was known as "John" to many of his Plainville friends.  Sherwood Forest Liquor Mart's name was changed in 1987 to Baggy's Liquors. Baggy, along with Queenie spent close to 40 winters with their friends in Lakeside Village in Hobe Sound, Florida.

Baggy was extremely proud of his military service in the United States Navy and in World War II.  He wore his WW II hat proudly and would acknowledge "thank you for your service" with his pleasant smile.  Baggy was also a longtime member of the Armenian Church of the Holy Resurrection in New Britain where he served on the Parish Council and was editor of the church newspaper "Looys" for many years.

Baggy, along with his dear friends Harry Egazarian, Albert Boyajian, and their sons, Gary, John and Mark,  hosted an Armenian gathering of music and dancing called "Kef Time Hartford" for 40 years, beginning in 1971.

Baggy leaves his wife of 67 years, Queenie.  He leaves his daughter, Darlene and husband, Dave Clavette, and his son, Gary and daughter-in-law Ellen.   Baggy leaves his granddaughter Marlo and her husband, Brett McQuiggan; his granddaughter Elissa and her fiancee, Brian Killeen; his granddaughter Cara and her wife, Livvy Hovhanessian, and his granddaughter Hayley.   Baggy also leaves great-grandchildren Eve, Kyla, and Rose. Baggy leaves his sisters Eleanor, Elizabeth “Lizzie”,  Annie and her husband Tony, and his sister Sarah. He leaves several nieces and nephews.
