Audrey Lois Johnson

Audrey Lois Johnson Johnson, 71, of Cromwell, formerly of Kensington, died Monday at Middlesex Hospital. She was the widow of Donald L. Johnson. Born in New Britain, she was the daughter of the late Carl A. and Ellen Swanson Johnson. Audrey was a Kensington resident from 1958 until moving to Cromwell in 1996. She was a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader. She was a member of Bethany Covenant Church where she belonged to Covenant Women and was a former Sunday School Teacher. Audrey was very proud of her Swedish heritage. She will be remembered by many for her hand painted Christmas ornaments. Surviving are her son, Gary Johnson of New Haven, her two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna L. Johnson and Jack Woodin of Berlin, Beth Johnson and Bob Cugno of Kensington, her beloved grandchildren Samuel and Anna Woodin, two sisters, Charlotte Sterbens of Kensington, and Carol Johnson of New Britain, her brother Norman Johnson of Plantsville, a sister-in-law Beverly Johnson Posusney of Farmington, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 am at Bethany Covenant Church, 785 Mill St., Berlin. Burial will be in West Lane Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St. New Britain. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Building Fund at Bethany Covenant Church.
