Aud Inger Kaalstad

Aud Inger (Jacobsen) Kaalstad of Cromwell, CT formerly of Acton, MA,5 died peacefully May 25, 2014 at Hartford Hospital. Born in Sornes, Helgeland, Norway, she was the daughter of the late Ingemann Holst and Inga (Bakke) Jacobsen. She attended Norwegian High school, Oslo Technical/Vocational College, the Norweigian Modeling and Fashion Academy, and the American Real Estate Institute. She resided in Boston, MA, San Juan, Puerto Rico, Huntington, Long Island, NY, Roa, Norway, and Acton, MA before moving to Cromwell. Aud was formerly employed as a Chemistry Research Technician at Harvard Medical School and Peter Bent Brigham Hospital, in Pediatric Research at the University of Puerto Rico Medical School, as store manager, design research, in Cambridge MA, as Vice Presdient of Sales,Scandinavian Design, Matick, MA, and as a Realtor, at Coldwell banker Real Estate in Acton, MA. Aud was a member of MIT Dames, Board Member of Acton Community Center, Acton Community Dance Theatre, League of Women Voters, Lexington Arts & Crafts Society, Framingham Chamber of Commerce, President, Boston Sales & Marketing Executives, Scandinavian Design executive Club, Real Estate Association of America, Sons of Norway, The Norse Federation, Long Hill Estate, Middletown, Wadsworth Athenaeum, Hartford, and the CT Horticultural Society. Her volunteer work included MIT Dames, Chairman, Acton Cooperative Nursery School and Kindergarten, Acton Public School System, UNICEF, Chairman, Emerson Hospital Gift Shop, Middlesex Hospital Cancer Center and Gift Shop. She attended Bethany Covenant Church. Aud enjoyed traveling, history, visual and performing arts, medical science, gardening and hand crafts. She was the devoted mother of Inger Kaalstad Loeser of Stratham, NH, Hilde Sager and her husband Douglas of Southington, CT and Kari Kaalstad and her husband Daniel Carr of Fairfield, CT. She was a cherished grandmother "Mormor" of Elisa and Sonja Loeser, Kari and Trond Erik Sager and Siri and Kirsti Carr. She was predeceased by her husband Trond in 2001. A memorial service in celebration of Aud's life will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Bethany Covenant Church, Berlin, CT. All who know and love her are kindly invited. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Covenant Village of Cromwell, Benevolent Care Fund.
