Arthur G. France, 75, of East Berlin, husband of Lisa (Williams)France, died peacefully at home on Friday, April 1, 2011. Born in New Britain, he was the son of the late Walter and Marion (Gowen) France. He was U.S. Navy Veteran and was formerly employed as the Facilities Manager at Raymond Engineering. Arthur was a member of the East Berlin Volunteer Fire Department for over 50 years and enjoyed working at the East Berlin Fire Department Berlin Fair booth. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Elks Lodge #844 in Winsted, the Quartet Club in New Britain, and the Ancient Order of Hibernians. He also served on the Building Commission for the Town of Berlin. Arthur enjoyed traveling to Ireland and loved camping. In addition to his wife Lisa, he is survived by two children, Amy Sanders of Newington and Ken France of Alabama; two step-children, Jeannie Richards of Colebrook and John Rehermann of Winsted; a brother and sister-in-law, David and Rita France of Farmington; a sister Nancy Huff of Alabama; four grandchildren, Mitchell, Justin, Zachary, and Erin; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Samantha France. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 6-8 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St. A graveside service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM at Wilcox Cemetery, East Berlin.
