Arthur H. Anderson

Arthur H. Anderson, age 91, of Cromwell, formerly of Trumbull, beloved husband of Gloria Anderson, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 7, 2010. Born in Baltic, South Dakota, he was the son of Martha and Hans Anderson. He grew up in Staten Island, New York, and joined the Navy at the outbreak of WWII. Over the course of his career, he worked at IBM and Teleregister, owned and operated the Scandinavian Gift Store in Bridgeport, and worked at the Neighborhood Housing Services of West Hartford and New Haven. He served the Navy as an active duty reservist, retiring in 1978 as a Lieutenant. Throughout his life, he was active in church and charitable work, both at home and abroad. In addition to his beloved wife of 64 years, Gloria, he is survived by four daughters: Susan Anderson of Wellesley, Massachusetts; Carol Regan of Trumbull, Connecticut; Adele Motter and her husband Howard of Brentwood, Tennessee; and Janet Weiss and her husband Robert of Litchfield, New Hampshire. He is also survived by six cherished grandchildren: Sarah Chapdelaine, Clare Enright, Katherine and Daniel Regan, and Elizabeth and Rebekah Weiss. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, March 11 at the Pilgrim Manor Chapel , 52 Missionary Road, Cromwell, CT 06416. Burial will be private in Staten Island. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Covenant Village Benevolent Fund of Cromwell, at the same address.
