Antonia Hernandez

Antonia “Toni” Hernandez, 79 of New Britain, passed away peacefully on Sept. 23, 2022.  She was born in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico on June 16, 1943. Toni was one of three children born to Gregoria Gonzalez Camacho and Juan Valentin.  She was raised in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico.

She was formerly employed by the State of CT teaching nutrition to low-income families.  She also was employed as a mental health assistant for Blue Hills Hospital.  Toni raised three children alone and put herself through college.  She was an amazing mom, grandmom, great-grandmom, and sister.

She leaves behind a daughter, Evelyn Rosario, son Sam (Cool Breeze) Velez, and daughter, Maria Landry and son-in-law Tom Landry; five grandchildren, Amanda Padua  (Roberto), Joseph Taitague (Tulsi), Sammy Velez, Sabrina Velez, and Chad Landry (Matali); and four great-granddaughters, Selena, Alycia, Ivelisse Padua, and Samara Velez.  Also surviving are two brothers, Juan Valentin Jr., and Luis Valentin (Miriam). She was predeceased by her mother, Gregoria Gonzalez Camacho and by her father, Juan Valentin Sr.  She will be missed by many.

Funeral services and calling hours will be held on Friday from 5-7 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain.
