Mother Teresa The Lord has called home one of his favorite daughters. Antoinette Rose Taricani died on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones. Auntie Toni, as she was known to friends and family, was born on February 4, 1934, one of four sisters and two brothers to Vito and Rose Taricani. A daughter of New Britain, born and raised, Antoinette graduated from New Britain High School and began her journey of service to others at the New Britain General Hospital School of Nursing where she became an RN. She continued her education at Boston College and obtained her BSN. Subsequently Antoinette earned her RN MSN degree in nursing at Central Connecticut State University. She worked at New Britain General and Cedarcrest Hospital until her retirement. Her life-long dedication to helping others reached beyond her nursing career. She opened heart and home, offering a beautiful smile that warmed any room. Her love spanned multiple generations, truly touching anyone she met. Auntie Toni you will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing you Antoinette is preceded in death by her parents Vito and Rose, her older sister and brother Caroline and Pasquale, and younger brother Anthony. She is survived by her sisters, Olga and Diana; her great-nephew Justin, whom she raised, her close friend Gail Hourigan, and multiple nieces, nephews, god-children and countless friends whom she touched in so many ways. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, 8:00 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM at St Ann's Church in New Britain.
