Anthony "Tony" Martinez

Anthony “Tony” Martinez, 51, of Middletown, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at his home. Tony was born in Brooklyn, NY on June 18, 1971 to Maria Matos and the late Jose L. Martinez.

Tony was a loving soul who enjoyed putting a smile on people’s faces, whether that was through jokes or food. He enjoyed cooking, spending quality time with his family, listening to old school hip-hop music, playing video games, and watching professional wrestling or his mixed martial arts movies. He is best known for his love for animals, his favorite superhero Superman, and his Halloween tradition of dressing up as Michael Myers to scare the kids.

He leaves behind his mother, Maria Matos; sisters, Madeline Martinez, Sandra Martinez, and Zaida Martinez; brother, Joselito Martinez; nephews, Miguel Ortiz, Devin Martinez, and Juan Matos; one niece, Shardae Williams; one great niece, Scarlet Ortiz; one great nephew, Miguel Ortiz Jr.; and brother-in-laws, Henry Delvalle and Jose Leano; dog Star.

Calling hours will take place on Friday, December 16, 2022, at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S. Main St., New Britain from 5:00PM to 7:00PM. There will be no burial.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to his sister, Sandra Martinez, or directly to Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home.
