Anna L. Orvis, 87, of New Britain, wife of John A. Orvis, passed away peacefully on Monday, Sept. 29, 2014 at the Jefferson House in Newington. Born in Belvedere, Province of Siracusa, Sicily, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Angelina (Belli) Salonia. She was a New Britain resident for over 80 years and was a graduate of New Britain High School, class of 1945. Anna formerly attended St. Ann's Church and was a past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Letter Carrier's Union. Anna was a devoted wife and mother. She was an exceptional cook and skilled baker. Her German chocolate birthday cakes and chocolate chip cookies will be missed by anyone lucky enough to have received them. She maintained lifelong friendships with neighbors and especially her bridesmaids. She was sweet and loving to everyone she met. Surviving are her husband of 67 years, John A. Orvis; four children, John J. Orvis and his wife Dianna of Newington, Robert A. Orvis of North Carolina, Thomas J. Orvis of Plainville, and Angela Colossale and her husband Carmen of Kensington; five grandchildren, Andrea Holden and her husband Edward Holden, Adam Orvis, Anthony Colossale, Joseph Colossale, and Jaclyn Colossale; and three great-grandchildren, Anna Holden, Lucy Holden and Ian Holden. She was predeceased by two brothers, Orlando Salonia and Sebastian James Salonia. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. A calling hour will be held from 10 AM until the time of the service. Memorial donations may be made to Foundation Fighting Blindness, P.O.
