Anna A. Munson

OBITUARY: Anna ''June'' Anderson Munson, 74, of Kensington, passed away Monday, February 18, 2002 after sharing more than 51 years of marriage with her loving and devoted husband Donald. June spent her childhood in Cobalt and Middletown, CT graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1946. June and Don met in 1949 and married Sept. 2, 1950. June and Don moved into the farmhouse where she quickly became a devoted farmers wife, learning the lessons of canning, freezing and growing a farmers garden which gave her family the joy of fresh vegetables in the winter. She spent many years as a 4-H leader of the Merry Maids where she taught her three daughters, Carol, Joy and Sally and her two nieces, Debbie and Marion and several other Kensington children to cook, sew, freeze and can. ''We will always remember everything you taught us.'' She worked at Woolworths of Berlin and at Magson Uniforms before retiring. She is survived by her husband Donald; her son Alan Munson of Syracuse, NY; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Carol and Charles Stribula of Woodbridge, VA, Joy and Gary Gay of Springfield, MA, and Sally Munson of Kensington; and by eight grandchildren, Jason and Jamie Munson, Christopher and Melissa Choinski, Matthew Gay, Harrison and Maxwell Stribula and MayBeth Munson. She is also survived by a brother William Anderson of Middletown; two sisters, Doris Matthias of Middletown and Ruth Brechlin of Middlefield; several nieces and nephews; a very special friend Pauline Griswold of New Britain who through their years of friendship never failed to call June everyday to have them keep in touch; and a special foster son, Jackie Cooper of Portland. You are at peace, June. We all love you very much and will miss you. Rest now. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S. Main St., New Britain. Burial will be in Maple Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday from 5-8 PM and Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Memorial donations can be made to St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 147 West Main St. New Britain, CT.
