Anna Rose Holyst Lewandoski, formerly of Berldale Ave, Berlin, died Friday, Nov. 10, 2006, at the age of 99, at Andrew Healthcare in New Britain. Born Jan. 21, 1907, on Silver St., New Britain, "Annie" moved as a child to the "Ban Box School" on Christian Lane, Berlin. She later met her husband, "Charlie", and married at the age of sixteen on Tues., Nov. 20, 1923. They settled and raised a family on a small dirt road at 9 Berldale Ave., Berlin, with a small farm across the street on July 30, 1934, purchased for $2, 400.00. Annie worked in Stanley Works in New Britain for 26 years, was a member of St. Paul's Church, Kensington, a member and former Vice-President of St. Paul's Ladies Guild, and a member of New Britain Council of Catholic Women. The daughter of Sophie Misczak and Marcel Holyst, Annie was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Charles, and her beloved daughter, Stella Anne Lewandoski, a former Maryknoll Missionary Nun, poet and Jungian Psychoanalyst. Annie was also predeceased by her brothers, Peter, George and John Holyst, her sisters, Eva Holyst, Mary Belasco and Catherine Stregowski; her daughter-in-law, Joanne Zablocki Lewandoski, and granddaughter, Lynn Marie Lewandoski. Annie is survived by her son, Alexy, of Belmont, NH; her son, Chester and his wife Joan, of Belmont, NH; her daughter, Barbara, with whom she shared her home; and her sister-in-law, Emily Holyst of Berlin. Annie also leaves eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Annie's recipe for life: "Turn the other cheek, never hold a grudge, laugh, bake and send cards" Funeral services will be held on Monday at 9:00 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S. Main St., New Britain followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Paul's Church. Burial will be in the family plot at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Calling hours to share memories will be Sunday from 4-7 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home. "When I am dead, even then, I will still love you. When I am dead, even then, I am still listening to you".
