Ann L. Suranna

Ann L. (McCarty) Suranna, 85, of Kensington, beloved wife of the late Joseph R. Suranna, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 surrounded by her family.

Ann grew up in Torrington, Connecticut, and spent most of her life in Kensington where she and her husband raised their family. She dedicated over 30 years as a devoted kindergarten teacher in the Berlin Public School system. She was a proud member of ADK women's teacher sorority and a faithful communicant of St. Paul's Parish for over 60 years.

Ann will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Elizabeth and husband Carlo (Dino) Monaco of Rocky Hill, Megan Sobolewski and her partner William Califano of Newington, and Sara Suranna-Pocock and husband Jeff of Newington; her grandchildren, Mallory and Joseph Donato (JD) Monaco, Erin and Michael Sobolewski, and Jeffrey Pocock; and her son-in-law Richard Sobolewski. She also leaves her siblings Frank J. McCarty III and wife Marilyn of New Hartford, Maureen O. Foeller of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Margaret (Peg) and husband Bruce Sherwin of Redmond, WA, and Sharon and husband Jerald (Jerry) Lawler of Clark, New Jersey, as well as her beloved sister-in-law Gracemary Faenza of Wethersfield. Ann is survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her lifelong friends, Esther Criniti and Maryann Rothstein.

She was predeceased by her parents, Frank J. McCarty Jr. and Mary McCarty; her in-laws, Michael and Angeline Suranna; her sister and brothers-in-law Carole and Gail Stanton, John O'Connor, and Henry Foeller.

Ann loved expressing her creativity in so many ways from tending her flower gardens and playing the piano to decorating her classroom with her own artwork. She especially treasured time with friends, whether traveling, shopping, dancing, or simply enjoying a meal together.

Her family is grateful to her longtime caregiver, Ana Supueva, who cared for Ann with extraordinary compassion, skill, and devotion. They also extend heartfelt thanks to the staff of Jerome Home for their exceptional care over the past six months.
