Ann Marie DiMauro died on May 1, 2022 after suffering a long illness. She was 90 years old. Ann was born on March 21, 1932 in New Britain, CT to Anne (Campisi)-Giannone and William H. Giannone. She attended school in the New Britain school system before obtaining her teachers degree from St. Joseph’s College in West Hartford, CT. Later on she worked as a 2nd grade school teacher at Holmes Elementary School in New Britain, CT. But she didn’t stay long and left several years later to raise her three sons. On August 7, 1954 Ann married the love of her life Salvatore R. DiMauro whom she had met while living next door to him on High Street, New Britain, CT. But it wasn’t until later on when she, her sister and parents moved from New Britain to West Hartford, CT that she started dating Salvatore. Eventually they married and took up residence also in West Hartford literally in the back yard of her parents where she built a house and raised her children. As time passed and her three sons were now much older, she and her sister Joyce partnered together to start a nursery school program at the former St. Helena’s Church in West Hartford, CT. Together they taught for several years before ending the program. Ann briefly worked as a bank teller for Burritt Mutual Savings Bank located in Corbin’s Corner, West Hartford, CT. Later on she and her husband moved out of West Hartford to the Tunxis Village Condos in Farmington, CT.
Ann and her husband traveled all over the country visiting Hawaii, California, Las Vegas, New Orleans, and many other parts of the United States. Together they traveled to Australia, Italy and many other countries as well. They both took many ocean cruises together and for over twenty years lived as snow birds traveling to Florida during the winter months and returning again to Connecticut during the summer months.
Ann loved to visit Mohegan Sun Casino and Foxwoods Casino. She loved to play cards and even attended a weekly card game with her friends in which they would take turns playing at each other’s homes. She loved playing golf as well and joined the women’s golf league at Tunxis Golf Course in Farmington, CT.
Other interests Ann had was to volunteer as a cub scout den mother when her sons were cub scouts and she loved to bake cookies and wedding cakes for her friends and family too. She even managed her own team of sales consultants for Princess House dinnerware hosting in-home parties. Ann loved to play the piano and the organ. She would often play for family and friends too.
Ann leaves behind her loving husband Salvatore Sr. of (68 years), her oldest son Richard and his wife Judith DiMauro, her 2nd oldest son Kenneth and his wife Eileen DiMauro, and her youngest son Salvatore DiMauro Jr. and his girlfriend Patti. She also leaves behind her grandsons Curtis DiMauro and his partner Erica, Andrew DiMauro and his partner Jessica and Jack DiMauro. Also her granddaughter Vanessa and her husband Brenden Woolley. In addition she leaves behind her sister Joyce (Edgar) and her husband William Gagnon as well as her many nieces, nephews and cousins.
