Angelo E. F. Ciammella

Angelo E.F. Ciammella, 87, of Kensington, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased by his first wife of 49 years, Angela (Perrotta) Ciammella, who died in 2001. He then married Eleanor Chojnowski and shared another 16 years of happiness.

Born in New Britain on December 4, 1931, Angelo was the devoted son of the late Emanuel and Pauline (LaRosa) Ciammella. Angelo graduated from New Britain High School in 1949.  He served in the United States Army and retired from the New Britain Fire Department. During his time as a New Britain firefighter, he began pursuing a career in building custom homes, which grew into a land development business, A. Ciammella & Son, that he would operate until he retired in 1994. He enjoyed many years of retirement, vacationing and traveling to his other homes in Massachusetts and Florida. Angelo's greatest joy came from spending time with his family and friends. He was an active member and longtime supporter of St. Paul Parish in Kensington.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Michael and wife Barbara; his daughter Lori Johnson and husband Ron; his daughter Cindy Butrimas and husband Tony, ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, all of Kensington; his stepson Thomas Chojnowski and wife Elaine of Newington and his stepdaughter Elaine Harger and husband George of Arizona. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Cesildo Ferre and his sister-in-law, Marion Schipke and several nieces and nephews.  Angelo was predeceased by his nephew Nicholas Ciammella Jr., his brother Nicholas Ciammella, and his sister Mary (Ciammella) Ferre.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Paul Parish, Kensington, on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at 10:00 AM . Burial will follow in Maple Cemetery, Berlin. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Paul Parish, 485 Alling St., Kensington, CT 06037.  Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
