Angela Rita Parnagian

Angela Rita Krikorian Parnagian, was a centenarian who passed away on March 30th at home, two months after celebrating her 100th birthday.

She was born in New Britain on Jan. 24, 1922 to Charles and Agavney Ghevondian Krikorian. Her mother, an Armenian Genocide survivor escaped Harput, Armenia with her two daughters Veronica and Ernestine.

After graduating from New Britain High School Class of 1940 she started her career at The Travelers in Hartford, CT.

She subsequently changed careers and entered retailing; culminating in the purchase of Yale Surgical & Corset Shoppe in 1973 from which she retired in 1990. Angela was the first woman of Armenian descent to own a small business in New Britain.

She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Edward George Krikorian, sisters Veronica Ghevondian Thomas and Ernestine Ghevondian Ohannessian, her brothers-in-law Saul Thomas and Kevork Ohannessian, nephews Angelo and Emil Ohannessian and her cherished niece Veronica Thomas Taylor.  She leaves her devoted daughter Christine Parnagian Esposito and her husband Anthony Esposito, her grand-nephew Roger Stuart Taylor of New Britain as well as many grand & great grand nieces and nephews in Connecticut and out of state.  Special thanks to Peggi and the late Richard Frawley for their many enjoyable visits.

Burial will be held at a later date.  Donations may be made to Animal Alliance Welfare League, PO Box 1775, New Britain, Ct., 06050 or the Charity of One’s Choice.  Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, New Britain, is in charge of arrangements.
