Andres Davila Rodriguez, lovingly known to friends and family as "Cano," passed away surrounded by family on October 28, 2024, at the age of 84. Born on February 4, 1940, in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico, Cano was best known as a man of strength, resilience, and unwavering dedication. His life was a testament to the words of Theodore Roosevelt: "Far and away the best prize that life has to offer is the chance to work hard at work worth doing.” He was a man who loved the outdoors and the beauty of the architecture that surrounded him. As such, Cano spent his career as a construction worker in Puerto Rico, known for building beautiful homes and even stronger lasting relationships.
In his later years, Cano moved from his hometown to New Britain, Connecticut. His evenings were often spent talking to friends and reminiscing about his beloved island of Puerto Rico. Above all he treasured time spent with family, sharing stories and experiences that will be remembered and cherished.
Cano is survived by his children, Andres, Nilsa, Astrid, Samuel, Rosa, Nelson, Jose, Lizbeth, Angel, Carmen and Michael, 23 grandchildren, and 34 great-grandchildren. His sisters Francisca (Panchy), Angela (Gela), Josefina (Fini), Ramona (Monin) and Maria De los Angeles (Isa) and a brother Eluterio (Tellin). Cano was preceded in death by his parents, Angel Davila and Rosa Rodriguez, his brother Agapito Aponte and two sisters Diluvina Aponte and Isabel Davila.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with a funeral service at 6:00 PM, by Andres' oldest son, Pastor Angel Andres Davila, at Erickson Funeral Home, 411 South Main Street, New Britain, CT, 06051.
In the words of Maya Angelou, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Cano's legacy of hard work, love, and dedication will be remembered by all who knew him. May we all strive to live as he did, with passion for what we do and love for those around us.
