OBITUARY: Alyce Simonian with picture Alyce Simonian, of New Britain, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002 at New Britain General Hospital after a short illness. She was the beloved wife of George P. Simonian, Sr. Born in Yonkers, NY, she was the daughter of the late Elia and Itzemnig Edgarian Sargis. She was a New Britain resident most of her life and was formerly employed at Ellis Coat Co. and American Bizarre, retiring in 1979. She was a member of the Armenian Church of the Holy Resurrection, the Senior Citizens group at church, and the International League of Ladies Garment Workers. In addition to her husband George, she is survived by two sons, George P. Simonian, Jr. of New Britain and Peter E. Simonian of Florida; a sister, Sophia Hamp of Worcester, MA; three grandchildren, Rebecca Anne Simonian, Elizabeth Louise Murphy and George P. Simonian III, who loved Sunday dinners at her home and playing set-back after dinner; a great-grandson, Andrew William Simonian; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Helene Haddad, and by two brothers, Andrew Sargis and Edmund Sargis. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 12 noon at the Armenian Church of the Holy Resurrection, with the Very Rev. Fr. Nareg Berberian and Rev. Dn. Hamlet Mehrabian officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. A private Prayer Service will be held at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Armenian Church of the Holy Resurrection, 1910 Stanley St., New Britain, CT 06053.
