Alice H. Karlames, of New Britain, passed away peacefully on Thursday at the Hospital of Central CT in New Britain. Born in New Britain, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Nota (Politis) Karlames. She was a life-long New Britain resident and was formerly employed by the State of Connecticut in the Retirement Division. Alice was a devoted member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church and participated in all of the church programs and formerly sang in the choir at church. She was a member and past officer of the Ladies Philoptochos Society and the Daughters of Penelope. She was a member of the Hospital of Central CT Women's Auxiliary, and the New Britain Museum of American Art. Alice was a warm, loving and giving person who always put her family first. She was an avid reader and speed walker. She enjoyed traveling both within the United States and out of the country, always exploring the cities she visited thoroughly. Surviving are two sisters, Elizabeth Karlames and Lifteria Stathos, both of New Britain; four nephews, Peter Beresford and his wife Eileen, Ronald Beresford, James Beresford, and Philip Beresford; grandnieces and a grandnephew, Kevin Beresford and his wife Mary, Amy Stewart and her husband Eric, Lisa Alger and her husband Kyle, and Anna Rose Beresford; a great-grandniece and three great-grandnephews. Alice was predeceased by a sister, Bessie Beresford. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at St. George Greek Orthodox Church. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. A calling hour will be held on Tuesday at church from 10:00 AM until the time of the service with a Trisagion service to be conducted by Rev. James Bogaitzis.
