Alexi Simonian

Alexi Simonian, 99, formerly of 67 Martin Luther King Dr., New Britain, died peacefully on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2006 at Ledgecrest Healthcare Center in Kensington. Born in Turkey, she was a New Britain resident since 1974. She was an active member of St. Stephen's Armenian Apostolic Church. Alexi formerly served as a volunteer at the Oak St. Police Substation. Surviving are a daughter, Mary Shamasian of New Britain; her sisters, Haiguhe Garabadian and family and Anahedgh Ghazarian and family all of Richmond, VA; a brother and sister in Lebanon; four grandchildren, Anna Shamazian, Abraham Shamasian, Hrant Shamasian and Haik Shamasian; seven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 AM at St. Stephen's Armenian Apostolic Church. Calling hours are Thursday from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 6:00 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S. Main St., New Britain. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Stephen's Armenian Apostolic Church, 167 Tremont St., New Britain, CT.
