Albert A. Baruffi, 92, of Newington, husband of Josephine (Aparo) Baruffi, died Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at Hartford Hospital. Born in New Britain, he was the son of late Joseph and Michaela Baruffi. He was a long time New Britain resident and a Bristol resident before moving to Newington sixteen years ago. Al, also known as "Bates", was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was formerly employed at American Bazaar. He was a member of St. Joseph Church in New Britain for over 40 years. He also was a member of the General Amigleo Club for many years. In addition to his wife Josephine, he is survived by a son, Ronald Hartunian and his wife June of Southington; four grandchildren, Joel Hartunian, Shane Hartunian, Alissa Hartunian and Jeffrey Hartunian; and a niece, Nancy Baruffi. He was predeceased by two sons, Richard Hartunian and Albert Baruffi Jr., a daughter, Lisa Baruffi and a brother Frank Baruffi. Al was a special person, who took on the responsibility to raise two children that were not his own. He did not neglect this responsibility even after he lost two of his own children at an early age. His whole family will miss him greatly. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 8:30 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St. New Britain followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM at St. Joseph Church. Burial, with military honors, will be in St. Mary Cemetery.
