Alainie Nevilas

Alainie Nevilas,90, formerly of New Britain, widow of Frank Nevilas, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012 at Vernon Manor in Vernon, CT. Born in Forestville, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Nina (Distin) Floros. Alainie was a New Britain resident most of her life and was formerly employed at D&L Department Stores. After retirement, she volunteered at the New Britain Senior Center for a number of years. One of the things that Alainie did best was to take care of her home and family. She was a wonderful cook, her apple pie being a specialty of hers and you would oftentimes find her rolling out a pie crust on a Saturday morning. She loved her family and her neighbors and oftentimes would share her cookies or pies with her neighbors. Surviving are three daughters, Kathleen Nagle and her husband David of Jamaica Plain, MA, Judith Newman and her husband Gary of Olympia, WA, and Joanne Nevilas of Basalt, CO; three grandchildren, Zen Newman, Zoie Newman, and Cassidy Rogala; a brother, Philip Floros of New Britain; two sisters, Martha Gajewski of Eastham, MA and Naomi Crouch of Middletown; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:00 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
