Aileen Stober

Aileen Stanford Stober, 83, of Newington, died unexpectedly, after a short illness, on Tuesday at the Hospital of Central Connecticut at New Britain General. She was the widow of Casimer Stober. Born in Sidell, IL, she was the daughter of the late Rolle Myron and Della Ruth Boen Stanford. Aileen was a resident of Branford for forty-five years before moving to Newington nine years ago. She is a former PTA president and was an active volunteer in local schools. Aileen was always active in local politics and enjoyed working at the local election polls. She enjoyed watching CSPAN daily. Active and independant, she was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by her loving family; her son and daughter-in-law, Attorneys John and Fillis Stober of Newington, her daughters and sons-in-law; The Honorable Mary Stober of Sacramento, CA, Janet and R. Gregory Miller of Danville, CA, Amy Long of Clinton, Diane Stober of Niantic, Carol and Andrew Davis of E. Berlin, her grandchildren; Marc Stober and his wife Cheryl of Newton, MA, Attorney Rachel Dranoff and her husband Dr. Jonathan Dranoff of New Haven, Haillie Stober of Sacramento, CA, Jordan Miller and his wife Katy of Atlanta, GA, Katherine Miller of NY, NY, Becky Miller of Danville, CA, Robert, Christopher and his wife Amber, and Kelly Stober all of Placerville, CA, AMN Joshua Long USAF and his fiancé Michelle Devlin, Andrew Long of Costa Mesa, CA, Meagan, David, Katelyn, and Zach Long all of Clinton, Kate Ehlert of Niantic, Claudia, George, Henry and Graciella Davis all of E. Berlin, her great grandchildren, Hannah and Max Stober of Newton, MA, Christine and Alexis Stober of Placerville, CA, and her daughter-in-law Carol Stober of Placerville, CA. Aileen's son Thomas, her brothers, Wayne and Thomas Stanford and her sister Ruth Stanford all predeceased her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 2, 2008 at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Church, 48 Cottage St., E. Berlin. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be held on Friday, August 1, 2008 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St. New Britain and Sunday, August 3, 2008 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the home of John and Fillis Stober, 87 Chestnut Road, Newington, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Newington Food Bank, 131 Cedar St., Newington, CT 06111.
