Adeline "Addie" Nielson

Adeline “Addie” Nielson, 95, originally from Hamtramck, Michigan and a resident of New Britain for over forty years, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at Autumn Lake in New Britain.

Addie entered the nursing profession at the age of thirty-none, earning an associate degree in nursing from E.C. Goodwin Technical School and New Britain General Hospital. She worked in several local convalescent homes over the years, including a twenty-year period at Lexington Convalescent Home. She retired from Southington Care Center in January 2004 at the age of seventy-three.

Addie is survived by her son, John Nielson; daughter, Kathryn Nielson; two grandsons, Ian Nielson and Matthew Anderson; and two sisters, Helen Wilcox and Florence “Penny” Thivierge. She was predeceased by two brothers and three sisters.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2026 at 10:30 AM at St. Jerome Church, 1010 Slater Road, New Britain. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
