It is with a heaviness in our hearts that we announce the passing of Ada Iris Rivera Saavedra, 76, wife of Jose A. Rivera, of New Britain, CT who passed away unexpectedly on January 18, 2026 at the Hospital of Central Connecticut surrounded by family.
Ada was born on May 26, 1949 in San German, Puerto Rico. She was the daughter of the late Joaquin Saavedra and Antonia Arroyo. She lived in New Britain for 55 years and retired from Stanley Works and La Quinta. Ada loved to spend time with her family and friends.
Surviving are her husband, Jose A. Rivera; two children, Wilfredo Rivera and Luz S. Rivera of New Britain; a brother, Luis A. Saavedra of Puerto Rico; and three sisters, Ramona Cruz, Maria S. Santos, and Maria D. Ayala all of New Britain. She also leaves behind grandchildren, great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was predeceased by four brothers, Jeronimo Saavedra, Alejandro Saavedra, Efrain Saavedra, and Joaquin Saavedra; and two sisters Matea Santiago and Carmen J. Arroyo.
We would like to thank all family members and friends who have given us all the support in our moment of grief.
Our mom taught us to always love each other and to always continue to love each other even in her absence. She may not be here physically, but when you feel alone, look at the sky and breathe because she is near.
